Oh Bop, Fashion: Vivetta

New category here on the site, and I’m dedicating it to the lyrics from David Bowie’s Fashion. Bowie has always been a showman and “oh bop, fashion” is my favorite lyric from the song.

Hat tip to Agent Lover for her glorious intro to this Italian label designed by Vivetta Ponti!

Kinda surreal, kinda French, these are the clothes that I’d imagine Kailey from Mermaidens would wear if she moved to Europe! Vivetta also makes kids clothes, oh my.

From the Vivetta site, about the designer:

Vivetta is an Italian contemporary brand established in 2009 by the fashion designer Vivetta Ponti talking about poetry, depicting a delicate, fun, light and at the same time assertive femininity and telling about the love of creative for dolls, antiques, fifties furniture and tapestry from sixties and seventies.

These nostalgic elements combine to hyper contemporary silhouettes and bon-ton patterns contrasting with lines that are more clean, enriched by unexpected details, surreal elements that aren’t usually considered as feminine like the profiles of faces and hands in the precious embroideries decorating the creations by Vivetta.

These are my two favorite pieces from the Resort collection S/S 2016 collection!

Someday I hope I’ll find Vivetta in my thrifting travels. You never know, right? I’ve found John Galliano, Yohji Yamamoto, Ann Demuelemeester, Helmut Lang, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and other random couture before. IT COULD HAPPEN!
