I’ve been working on my David Bowie tribute because he’s my favorite. Hopefully, I’ll finish it by next week.
In the meantime, I’ve been having some success with the very limited thrifting that I’ve been able to accomplish.
If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time, you might have guessed that shoes are my forte. I seem to do extraordinarily well at acquiring all manner of shoes.
Enter these Dove Actually heels by Irregular Choice. According to that link on ModCloth, they retailed for $154.99! I scored them in Oakland for only $8.50. AND they’re in my size with minimal wear!! Hooray.
The second pair of shoes that I acquired during the same trip is this pair of Doc Martens. My size and they were only $15.50. Remember “if it isn’t exquisite, get rid of it!” When I purchase things, even if I’m considering keeping them for personal use, I always imagine how much they’d flip for if I needed to sell them in a hurry.
It’s no secret that the 90’s seem to be back in full swing. Honestly, I’m relieved because I never stopped wearing slips and my Doc Martens, so there.
On the same trip in Oakland, I picked up this black satin slip dress made by Lindy Hop clothing. Made in the USA, it’s a good repro. It’s a big size M, so we’ll see if I hold onto it. I’ll need to alter it to fit if I do or just use a hair clip (hey, just like the 90’s, when I would use a hair clip instead of a dress clip. Make sitting on a chair difficult!)
